Wonderful experience from Jiri to Everest Base Camp trekking

When we left Nepal in February 2012 after completing the short Poon Hill trek in the Annapurna area, which we thoroughly loved, we really didn’t expect to return to Nepal again for another trek. However, our guide, Ramesh, and an article in our local newspaper by a 69 year old man who had just completed the Everest Base Camp trek, convinced us that the EBC trek was doable for older folks, like us, in our 60s. And so, in mid-September 2013, we returned to do the EBC trek starting at Jiri. As we had done for our previous trip to Nepal, we contacted Ram, owner of Himalaya Journey Treks and Expeditions, to provide us with a guide and porter for the trek and make other arrangements for our stay in Nepal. The arrangements by Ram were just as we had hoped. We were very pleased to have Ramesh as our guide and Mr. Lama as our porter again – their vast knowledge of the flora, fauna and culture of the mountains, their professional concern for our health, safety and comfort, their desire to ensure that the trek lived up to our every expectation, and more than anything, their winning personalities (as well as the amazing mountain scenery, of course), ensured that we achieved our goal of getting to Base Camp and made the trip an unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime experience.
